McDonough has matured to become one of the largest cities in Henry County. It is a city in which to live, work, play and worship. As the county seat of Henry County City, McDonough was incorporated in 1823 and named to honor Commodore Thomas McDonough after a brilliant victory on Lake Champlain during the war of 1812.
